Primary and Secondary School Planned Delivery Model August 2020
Primary schools blended learning model will operate as follows:
most children will have two consecutive days in school each week, Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday;
where feasible accommodate sibling groups within primary schools on the same days
prioritise children of key workers and children from vulnerable groups only on a Friday and also at the discretion of the Head Teacher, prioritise attendance of individuals or groups
There is the need to provide some local flexibility for schools given staffing and space constraints, and your child’s school will keep you informed about what this means for you and your child.
Secondary schools will apply the same principles as our primary schools however they will implement a blended model which will take account of their unique context and learners’ needs:
• Blended learning in the Broad General Education (in secondary schools from S1S3) will focus upon the key areas of Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing, with other curriculum areas being experienced
• All will prioritise planning and implementation of approaches to ‘blended learning’ in the Senior Phase to ensure schools achieve a robust evidence base for assessment and certification.
More details will follow from your child’s school before the end of term so that you will know the arrangements for the return to school at the start of the new academic session in August.
